We are looking for a Product Owner to strengthen our team in Berlin, Hamburg or Cologne. 

Syspons GmbH is a consultancy firm for social innovation based in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne. We support public institutions, federal ministries, foundations and NGOs to maximize their positive social impact. To this end, we work with our customers on relevant topics like migration policy, diversity, international cooperation and development cooperation, Work 4.0 and climate protection.

Syspons M&E Tool is a web application developed by Syspons for monitoring and evaluating projects/programmes, mainly, in the area on international cooperation. It includes various modules for data entry, processing, and analysis, and allows integration with different third-party systems such as survey software or BI tool(s). This enables key processes - data collection, analysis and reporting - to be managed and carried out within a single, integrated system. As a web application, the tool includes functionalities for database management, instance deployment, and cloud operations such as document processing, user and permission management, translation handling, and schema configuration. The application involves modern development frameworks including Angular, Node.js, and MongoDB.

Task profile

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Define and communicate a clear product vision aligned with company goals and client needs, and maintain the product roadmap with stakeholders.
  • Turning Client Needs into Action: Serve as the main liaison among clients, consultants, and developers; translate client needs into technical terms.
  • Agile Development & Backlog Management: Lead agile processes, manage and prioritize the product backlog, write actionable user stories, and continuously refine priorities based on feedback.
  • User Experience & (optional) Dashboard Conceptualization: Ensure a user-friendly product design for non-technical users and, if applicable, co-develop dashboards that support M&E goals using tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Quality Assurance: Define acceptance criteria, lead user acceptance testing, resolve bugs collaboratively, and uphold high standards for product quality and usability.
  • Client Onboarding & Support: Oversee onboarding and training, and develop user-friendly documentation and support materials such as tutorials and FAQs.
  • Market & Trend Analysis: Monitor developments in digital M&E and data tools, and drive the acquisition of relevant projects and clients for the tool.
  • Compliance & Data Security: Ensure compliance with GDPR and other regulations, and work with technical experts to embed security and privacy by design.
  • Project & Budget Management: Coordinate development timelines and budgets with project management to ensure delivery within scope and resources.

Requirements profile

  • You have gained initial practical experience in the role of Product Owner (two years approximately).
  • You have undertaken a training or certification to qualify as a Product Owner.
  • You enjoy working together and leading a team of two developers.
  • You actively contribute to projects, enjoy taking on responsibility, and complete tasks independently and reliably.
  • You are able to familiarize yourself quickly and thoroughly with new topics and technologies.
  • You have (initial) experience in working with (relational and/or non-relational) databases.
  • You enjoy writing proposals to acquire projects in which the Syspons M&E Tool is used.
  • You speak and write fluently in both German and English.
  • You enjoy working as part of a team!
